Bohol Beach Club experience...

Paradise...this is the word that best describes Panglao Island, Bohol. It was indeed a good decision to have chosen Bohol as our post-wedding getaway. The place is awesome! I fell inlove with it.

The people are very nice and humbled. And they treat tourists like their own family member. Who would have thought that there are still genuinely nice people back home in the Philippines? I truly admire Boholanos. Visiting Bohol is definitely a great experience.

Real fast!

Archie arrived, finally. We’ve got five more days before the Big day. The butterflies in our stomachs never went away. I hope everything will be alright…

December 16, 2009

Fast!

I am supposed to go home in the province to visit my mom and dad’s tombs but my sisters told me not to. Traditions and beliefs say that no bride-to-be is to travel when the wedding date has been scheduled. Urgh, had I known earlier, I would have not booked my flight this early. Poor Archie, had to be left behind.

So I immediately changed my schedules and didn’t waste a day not to look after our wedding details.

I'm home!

The moment I saw smoke in the air, I knew I was home to Philippines. Odd but true hehe. I arrived in Clark right on time despite the late departure in Changi. Praise God the flight was safe. The first to welcome when in Dau is of course, Jollibee. So I went in to order their new Jollibee barbeque chicken. It was satisfyingly yummy! Off I went to victory terminal bound for Baguio. Yeah, I didn't ask my family to pick me up cause I just traveled lightly. No much of a fuss! In a quick 5 hours of nap in the bus, I could feel the freezing cold breeze and the smell of pine trees. Finally, home it is...

Tampines Xmas Party

Weee! It's already xmas here in our humble abode hehe. We're having our early house xmas party tonight. I'm so excited. There's honey-roasted chicken, pancit (stir-fried nooodles), calamares, and cake from Bakerzin for dinner. And of course, a party is never complete without the boozes! Vodka and Tequilla in the house! Haha. I'm so revved up for tonight.

Love happens...

I just finished watching Love Happens and I gotta say, grieving is really the hardest part to do in one's life. I've lost many important people in my life including my parents. And the healing and moving on part, doesn't happen overnight. It may take months or even years for someone to finally move on, again. Just like what I did.

My favorite line from the movie was the part where Burke said "when one thing ends, something else begins." In my life or maybe also in your life, this line is true. I'm ending my single life and starting anew in marriage. I don't know what kind of life it will be but it is a major step to move forward.

Wednesday madness

I feel so lazy today and did nothing but gaze nowhere. Sigh, idle moments like this makes me think of things that aren't to be thought. It keeps my sleepy mind awake and rush all at once. Sometimes it's tiring to think. Sigh...

Still with nature

I've been weighing my skill (if you can call it a skill) in photography and found out that I think I'm better with nature as subjects. This is because I've been having a lot of frustration taking photos of humans as subjects. For whatever reason, I sure know that I seriously need more and more practice. Maybe I'm lacking something, I just gotta figure. Anyways, tell me what you think about these shots.

Queen's abode

Archie and I went to celebrate the house blessing of my high school friend, Queenie in Northoaks Woodlands yesterday. The view was terrific. There's a big swimming pool and mini-slides for kids at one corner. The gym is right across. Ah, it was just breathtaking.

It's nice to live in a condo where one can enjoy all the amenities. But then I wonder if Queen will have time? She's too busy and caught up with work a lot of times. Oh well, everything she has right now is worth it all. She's one blessed girl. I'm happy for her.

Today was a very tiring yet fulfilling day for me and Archie. We met after his work to hang out and stroll in town. And while in town, we dropped by Pedro shop to buy Archie's shoes, finally.

Anyways, we did the stroll because we need to add more pictures on the project we're trying to finish for our wedding hehe. So here comes the not-so-good photos. Thanks to our reliable Onee and tripod.

Gossip is crispier than fried chicken

Who says fried chicken is the crispiest? I say gossip is much crispier than a fried chicken. People loves and hungers for it.

I know for a fact that all of us doesn't wanna be left out with the latest news on tv, print, and even in our own personal lives. Rumor or gossip is just inevitable, isn't it? Even if it means ruining someone's life.

I just did something noble for myself today. Oh well, after someone stabbed me to death at my back, I chose to do something to calm myself and move on peacefully. So instead of drowning myself with the hear says and hoo-has around me, I removed all the people in my FB network that connects me to that someone. And when I say remove all, it means everyone, even if the other people are not involved. Ironic but, it's quite a relief.

Although, I am partly sad for doing it because I have a few good friends in that circle. But then I had to make a sacrifice so I can move on faster. Doing it, actually made me feel better. And I'm glad. I can just shrug the gossip off my shoulders.

God is definitely good all the time...

No questions: Life is never fair!

Freedom

The sound of people that walk pass at my station, the rushing sound of keyboards here and there, the deafening voice of the big boss in the room, and the endless laughter around the office will no longer be heard. Today, I officially declare my freedom. I am free of all the work anxiety I have long endured.

I am happy to be free. But a part of me is also sad because I leave behind the people that I have learned to care. Too bad, I happen to be a victim of emotional and verbal violence. And it's one of the reasons why I don't wanna stay. It is ironic when people say they'd rather be hurt physically than be dragged with degrading words, I completely agree. A wound will heal. But harsh words, it's just too difficult to refute. It ripped off everything I had...

True enough, life is not always a "win-win" situation. We win some, we lose some. In this case, I lost. I'm taking a break from work. I need to be strong again to face another chapter of my career. I live it all up to Him...

A month before Christmas!

Yahoo!!! It's a month long left before Christmas. I just love it, don't you? I am overly excited about the holidays because 1) I'm spending it in Philippines with my family after two years and 2) I'm getting married the day after! Weee! it's like shooting 2 birds with 1 stone, huh! I'm happy...

November 23, 2009

Last week

Today is the last Monday I'll be spending at work. Stress is slowly turning down. I hope this reaches ZERO in time hehe. I'll miss a lot of people but it's the best way to move on and become a better person. Cant wait!

November 21, 2009

Thank you...

Lord, it has been days that I'd been feeling very wary and sad. But during those times, I never thought of giving up my faith in you because I know that You will never forsake me. I know that you work things according to your plan. And I take each challenge as a milestone to make our relationship more founded. And today, you healed my wariness instantly. You worked your magic flawlessly. I cannot fathom the happiness I have right now because of the wonders you make in my life, like what you always do. You give me big surprises, bigger than I can imagine.

But I am not forgetting that fact that I am one of your sinful children. I am sorry for adding so much burden to what you already have. But no matter how sinful I could be, I am certain that you still love me unconditionally. My heartfelt gratitude...Love You!

9th year...

It's been 9 long years since my father passed away. And I still feel like it was just yesterday. The feeling of losing someone we love is one (if not the most) excruciating and devastating ever. I went to church to say a li'l prayer for my dad. I know he is in good hands. Missing you in a heartbeat, dad!

Bohol, here we come!

We already made our reservations at Bohol Beach Club for our very much awaited "after-wedding" getaway. Yeah, I don't wanna call it a honeymoon. It's just too cheesy for me hahaha.

Anyways, I've started to make a list of all the things that we need to do when we get there. Thanks to our friends, they suggested to visit E.A.T. Danao, some 2hours drive from Tagbilaran City. We saw their website and oh my, I am so going to try those thrills. Check out their website E.A.T Danao. We'll be in Bohol for 3D/2N. We opted to extend another night but I thought, I wanna see Cebu at night. So we'll be spending overnight in Cebu and splurge with lotsa food and scenic views. Can't wait!

It is really more relaxed and peaceful to work without the bosses around. No nagging and loud voices heard. Haay, it is indeed a soothing Monday for everyone at work hehehe.

November 06, 2009

Stress overload...

Since this month started, the butterflies in my stomach never left. It seems like my level of stress has gone way high beyond my reach. Work and wedding pressure is everywhere, in my mind and even in my dreams. I guess there's no need to do physical workout to tone my body. The mental stress alone keeps me fit. Arrrgggh! I just wanna scream it out. Hope things will go well, in God's time.

November 04, 2009

Getting closer

I'm starting to count the days I have left at work. Though counting makes it a little slower. Somehow, a part of me wants to stay but a bigger part of me wants to be completely free. It's the feeling of freedom that emanates more. I believe I deserve a good break after 2 years of hard labor. Hard enough to say that it is really darn tough to be under the supervision of a different nationality. Sometimes, we really cannot avoid criticism or racial discrimination because of which country I am from. And it is impossible to educate every single person that I meet in and outside of work to explain and defend how talented we could be in our own ways. My experience was just harder than I thought.

I am so tempted to go back home and settle for while because I feel like I've had enough of it. But the "challenged" part in me wants to face this head-on. I wish everything goes well.

Sick and sicker

I had gone back to Singapore and I am still sick. I'm feeling sicker everyday for which I don't know the reason. Prolly stress with work and wedding stuffs. Well I'd prefer to be sick and sicker now than be sick on my big day. I hope to get better real soon.

By the way, I didn't realize how the time flies so fast. I forgot to greet myself a happy 2nd birthday in Singapore. I turned 2 years old a few days back. Hmm, a lot has happened to me and around me in that span of 2 years. I hope for more years to celebrate here in Singapore. I love it here!

Wed Preps Phase III

A week after my birthday, Archie and I were off to Philippines to prepare for our wedding requirements. I have to say, it was the saddest vacation ever. We didn't get to enjoy because of typhoon Pepeng. It got us stranded in Baguio. Good thing we finished all the things needed to be done for our wedding preps. Although my other plans such as visiting friends in Manila as well as our outdoor photo shoot was canceled. But then again, overall I was happy that my wedding checklist was completed before Pepeng started to hit.

  • Food Tasting
  • Reception Layout
  • Flowers
  • Family Planning Seminar
  • Bridal shop
  • Bridal Car
  • Emcee
  • Pre-Nup photos
  • Invitations - completely unexpected packaging. We had to re-do the sleeve to look more "alive".

True enough, it is difficult to be a coordinator on your own wedding. But it's perfectly fine with me, atleast I know every detail of it. I hope we can pull it off successfully. I expect some humps but hopes for the minor issues.

Mackee was born on my bday...

After my incessant debate with Archie on buying laptop, here it is! Right on my birthday, we got our baby Mackee. It was indeed memorable to celebrate hehe. Memorable in the sense that, it's my last single birthday and I got our Mackee.

Photobucket Photobucket

But the horrible part of that same day...back home in the Philippines, typhoon Ondoy tremendously put the lives of my countrymen in misery and deep danger. It was saddening to watch the news with so many lives taken :( Mother Nature took it's toll. And for that, I wanna extend my sympathy to all the families that had been affected even in the smallest way I can. Let's all pray for a speedy recovery of the Philippines.

Laptop Market

We've been contemplating for sometime if it is time to buy a new laptop. Actually, we planned to buy a new one on December but because our baby died on us 3 months earlier, we gotta do something. All of our wedding suppliers are contacted online so we really need to get in touch with them. The problem is, we don't have the luxury to pay for one now due to other financial priorities. This matter is something that needs to be discussed seriously ... I'll update you soon.

It was like doomsday when our laptop hdd crashed last Sunday. Archie tried to revive but alas, it was really gone. Gone without backing up our files huhuhu. And it's very difficult to be updated on the in's and out's of the limelight without it. I felt crippled...sigh!

It's a month away from my trip back home. Finally, after the long wait and planning, I'll see our wedding suppliers to discuss in details the things that needs to be done. See you guys soon...

Customer Service in Singapore

Of all the ad blogs I have written, I guess this is the most interesting topic to blog about. I have only been here in Singapore for 1yr and 11months. But I must say, in that short span of time, I've my fair share of good and bad customer service experience.

I'd like to share my customer service experience with a jewelry shop. Late last year, me and my fiance were looking for a perfect wedding band. We've been to different jewelry stores from east to west. There were a lot of great finds but I didn't like how I was served. As a customer, I'd seen staffs who are very pushy. And this attitude can boo away customers, I didn't like personally.

Luckily, we stepped in to CITIGEMS. Their staff, Diana, is very passionate with her job. She is empathic to her customers. I was very pleased on how I was served. I've never seen such an excellent customer service. She gives her most honest suggestions beneficial to customer and not for profit cause only. She is one exception of showing fair customer service both to local and foreign customers. She knows how to blend with the needs of her customers and not insistent. She makes sure her customers are happy-customers when they leave the store. I was completely satisfied.

I've shared this topic because of a group of people called "squad members" from Service Squad. This is an online site initiated by various agencies to be the platform for everyone to raise their opinions and experiences of good or bad customer service in Singapore.

The service squad is launching a campaign Are You Being Served to raise awareness and to bring the customer service of Singapore to a higher level.

We encourage your participation by joining this vision and mission. Please login at Singapore Customer Service .. Share Your Story because we value your input.

Excitement overload

I'm having so much difficulty choosing THE one. I keep changing the style I want and I'm getting so frustrated. Initially, I wanted a ball gown. But then I thought, it would be too difficult to keep in the closet after because it will surely eat up a lot of space. Yet with ball gown, I want the "drama" in it haha, feeling like a princess. Geez, maybe this is just excitement overload.

September 05, 2009

Kids are in or not?

Saturdays are mostly quiet in the office. Most of the stations are empty, lights are off and only keyboards are heard with a few heads working (or pretend to be working) hehehe.
I was browsing and asked Susanna her opinion on the shoes that I want to buy for my big day when we started to chat about weddings, then kids. She told me that she doesn't want to get married nor have kids. I was so intrigued to know the reason. She said that she gets irritated by the sound of babies crying haha. She thinks she would fail as a parent and doesn't want her kid to cuss on her later on haha. Naiyana joined our conversation and agreed that she doesn't want to have kids as well. Whoa, what is wrong with these girls? hihi. I told them that despite the crying babies, the joy of having kids is actually beyond any earthly explanation. Instead, they insisted that they are not ready to commit their lives to their kids. Hmm, very typical perspective from a workaholic point of view I guess. The funny thing is, I told them that maybe it is easy for them to say now that they don't want to have kids because they aren't old yet. But when time comes, they will eventually need someone to take care of them. Guess what's their answer? If they grow old and in the home care, they'll have no chance to slap their children hahaha. Goodness! Now it explains why most women here are still single even in their 30s. That's life!

Work is Nuts!

In relation to my previous post, work is constantly becoming a challenge. This is because of a person who made everyone's life miserable. She's like a virus that needs to be contained.

My professionalism had been tried and tested so many times since I joined this company. It started from a tedious 3-hour job interview, adjustment to colleagues when I got hired, change of departments and managers, and the list goes on.

To put it in focus, I felt devastated a week ago when I learned that my leave was not approved. I know from a manager's perspective that if operations fail, leaves are subject to approval. But in my case, the leave was planned even before I was moved to this department end of 2008, even before the managers had changed. It had long been fixated. It was really nuts! Of all my leaves, this is the leave that I cannot afford not to happen. I felt bad, she thinks it's easy because she's not in my shoes. In fact, I expected her to give me support knowing that she had been married too. She should know the importance. But she gave me the answer I never saw coming. Anyways, I didn't stop. Instead I prayed very hard that she'll have a change of heart and let me take the leave. I really fought for it til I got approved hehe.

August 31, 2009

Rough and tough...

It had been a rough and tough week in the office. Work had suddenly become chaotic because of people leaving. Since this person got hired, work had turned sour to everyone. She must be a real jinx. Hay! And it is so unfortunate for me to be under her roof. If only I have to means to leave, I could have left too.

Another bunch of people is leaving next week. Eve is ending on Monday and another on Friday. Whoa, it is really manic! This is not a retrenchment but a poor management so to speak. In my personal opinion, I think the company's business strategy is weak. Their priorities are different which is why employees leave. I once watched a CEO talk about his priorities. He said that the top 3 would be 1) his employess, 2) customers) and 3) share-holders. Too bad our office chooses his employees the least. What can a customer and share-holders do without employees to run it? Sigh, I just feel bad that our office does not live up to its famous name.

Why don't I leave too? I'm not a hero for staying hehehe. I'm still under contract so it's tough for me to be torn in between. If I choose to leave before my contract ends, I'll be thrice my salary at a big loss. Though I am hoping for a change, it's never too late.

W-checklist

I've started to mark down in my W-checklist the things that were accomplished and we're almost done. Whew! I want to congratulate myself (mostly) and Archie for making it, without any major help from anyone. Praise God! This is what I liked the most, planning everything first hand with just the two of us. The freedom to choose what we want is bliss enough. I hope this remains.

Anyways, I got the major suppliers checked and done! Only a few more deals and we're ready. I'm excited to a new life yet to come...

August 15, 2009

Be Heard!

I have been constantly reading the newspaper since the recession announcement to make sure I get updates on the current economic conditions of the world and of course, Singapore.

As a foreign worker, I believe it is essential to know this information for security reasons and future endeavors. There had been write-ups saying that the economy is now on its road to recovery. How true is this? Are the Singapore banks safe and sound? Do we feel the security?

Let yourself be heard. A Euro RSCG Asia-Pacific Quarterly Financial Services Survey is being conducted to provide in depth “insights and analysis of consumer’s attitudes and perceptions” pertaining to brand and communication strategies.

How does it work? Euro RSCG came up with a research methodology to track and analyze brands. It is called Brand Momentum. What is this? It is a dynamic measure of a brand’s perceived progress relative to its competition. It also “monitors a brand’s total activity more than the traditional approach of tracking by discipline and campaign.”

What is the goal of the survey? It will provide the banking industry with the true views and opinions of consumers. It will inspire them to create products and services to our own advantage. In this survey, there will be “no personal details identified in the findings and responses will strictly be confidential as data from this research will be reported only in the aggregate.”

Singapore is known to be a busy and promising country, but a few minutes of your time to complete this survey will be greatly appreciated. The completed survey will be entered into a draw to win one of 60 movie vouchers that can be used in Singapore cinemas. So please take part as we value your input.

Future Thought

I am feeling so bored today staring blankly at my pc. True enough Friday is so much loved! But with nothing to do, makes the Friday slightly hated.

I am now a few months away from my EOL with DHL. Should I or should I not renew? That’s a big question yet to be answered. I know the economy is still recuperating from its major business losses. Still, I want to try my other options. I have always wanted to try my own field of profession. It’s been almost 7 years since I last practiced my true profession, full-time. And I miss it! I wish I’d be given the opportunity to work-with-passion, again. I miss the unexplainable smell of the printer ink, miss reading the over-sized broadsheet, and glossy mags, answering the crossword puzzles corner, checking who is in and out in sports and celebrity world.

I feel that my niche is still on this field. It's just too bad that it wasn’t a fulfilling job back home, not to many ordinary people like me.

I've been checking my options online on how to multi-task both in school and work. Given the chance, I'd really want to try next year if my schedule permits. We'll see...

W-Prep II

Hello August! It's a brand new month. I haven't been parking here for a while due to a lot of things that is happening both in my personal and work life. Work in the previous month had been very tough with the new manager around. But I finally get the hang of it. So I think I should be fine.

As to my personal life, I'm pretty much tied-up with the second phase of W-Preps. I've booked the invites and giveaways, finally! Although I haven't included the giveaways for our sponsors. I'm still working on closing the deal. I find that it's quite tough to handle everything especially I'm based abroad (the event will be back home in Phil) But why should I complain? I chose to be hands on to it, so I gotta do anyway. I think it is much better to know the ins and outs of the things I want, so I'll only have myself to blame in case I fail hehe.

Thanks to the checklist that I have, I am able to list the things that needs to be done and I'm so happy that I'm over 50% done. Kudos! By the time I go back in Oct, hopefully about 80% done. It's four months away and I can't hide the smile on my face. I'm happy. Although there are some bumps and humps along the journey, I still hope that we'll pull this through smoothly. I don't let any bad vibes dampen my happy thoughts. I'm just so happy...and I hope this mood remains constant as long as it can be.

Sometimes it is very difficult to set boundaries in our lives. I find it really tough to asses the border line.

There are times when I feel happy around people. Yet this happiness doesn't always come around...

W-prep

It's five months away to the intimate celebration. And what could be more exciting than the preparations? Well, it's a mix of emotions hehe.

Thing is, because I'm so much in to details, I haven't settled down to the right color matches that I want haha. It's a girl thing. I keep browsing the net to get ideas but too much ideas clash with what was pre-planned. And the sad part, our expenses gets higher huhu. So Archie wants me to stop itching for more ideas. Fine!

Anyways, everything is going smoothly and in place. I hope to maintain such until D-day.

Miss you in a heartbeat

Happy Father's day to all the fathers out there.

I'm feeling mushy today not only because it's father's day, but also for the reason that my mom just turned two years since she passed away. And to commemorate for may parents' passing, I went to church early to offer prayer.

I'm glad to still come around.

Dad and Mama, miss you both in a heartbeat.

Scrub it hot!

Have you ever visited any site lately that provides helpful tips for Nurses? Here is a site that can guide Nurses to a healthy and good living.

I've just visited the site called Scrubs. It has several links for visitors to explore. If you are stressed with work and needs replenishment or inspiration, the "mind" tab can help you. People who are conscious about their weight can also find helpful information through the "health" link. Not only that, Scrubs also shares insight about fashion. This is imperatively fascinating for busy nurses on or off duty. Not because they wear scrubs mean they couldn't be fashionable especially this summer. It is nice to create a new trend for the new season. Just click the "style" tab for more information.

I read one beauty story entitled "Lipstick Stat" from one of the nursing students who visits Scrubs. It is known to all that being a nurse means round-the-clock energy. And majority of nurses lacks a decent sleep. Megan shared her tips on how to look fresh and lively to patients no matter how tired she could be. She said that she always puts mascara and lipstick. The former helps to emphasize and give life to her eyes while the latter is applied every chance she gets. It makes her feel good. She feels that being presentable helps her patients look at her comfortably rather than be frightened.

So don't ever ditch looking great for anything. Whichever time of the day, always be ready and look great.

Is the information too short? Scrubs will give you detailed answers. See it for yourself.

Bye Michael Scofield

I made myself available today to watch the finale of my favorite shows. On top of that is Prison Break, which I am sad that it had to end this year. I'm sure hell gonna miss Michael in the small screen.

About the ending, I find it a bit tragic. It's because after all the win-win battles of Michael in the entire 4 seasons, he died at the end...sigh. I guess it's the best way to confirm to the audience that there is no more upcoming season huhu. I wish the creator would think of a spin-off or anything that could lead star Wentworth again. I will surely miss the cast. Bye bye Michael Scofield, this show made my weekends worth looking forward to for the last 4 years. More shows to come!

Sixth Year

What could be happier and lovelier than having a strong relationship with a loved one? Yesterday was our 6th year anniversary. Through the years, the ups and downs in our lives have made us stronger and more prepared for the future. This year is our last celebration...as we enter another chapter of our lives.

The night is young and beautiful at The Fullerton Hotel. Yet after a few hours of fun and laughter, the night ended with a big heaven's splash hehe.

Botanical Garden, my next weekend destination. Small things like these makes me happy. Now I have my reasons to go out. Cheers!

Forget about stress

I need to forget about stress. And the answer to it is to do something that I love to do, photography. I never felt relieved until I got my camera. Somehow it helped me feel excited about weekends. True enough, it's the only time I can play with Onee. Since I got it, I always have reasons to go out hehe. Photos I've taken during a visit at Chinese Garden.

Meet Onee

Aloha cyber friends! I don't know if there are still people who visits my site huhu. Work has greatly consumed my time that I've neglected my cyber home.

For the longest time I have consistently blamed work for all that I have lost in my personal life. But no matter how much I whine about it, I have one of the reasons to keep on going. And that is because of Onee, my new baby Canon. Yipee! I am so happy to have finally bought my own SLR. It was really a dream come true.

Having this piece felt like reuniting with an old-trusted friend that has gone for a while. And like what reunited friends do, I went to "tour" this piece for a quick test hehe.

Photobucket
Here is my first test. I was trying to capture the glistening water but failed. The sun had been playing hide and seek with me. Too bad, it was not a good day for a sunny 125 shot.

Photobucket
I'm still not pleased hehe. I would need more practice. It's been 10 years since I had a grip of this piece. Wala pang Digital nun hehe.

Photobucket
More practice and I will get it perfectly.

Photobucket
Finally, something that made me smile hehe.

Because of Onee, I have something to look forward to every day no matter how tired I am.
